England's Economic Heartland has welcomed the launch today of the East West Railway Company's second non-statutory consultation.

Martin Tugwell, Programme Director at England's Economic Heartland, said: "We welcome the launch of this consultation as another important step towards delivering East West Rail, which is identified in our Transport Strategy as the single biggest opportunity for our region.

"It will act as a catalyst for improving public transport right across the Heartland and beyond. The strategic case for East West Rail enjoys widespread support from our local authority and LEP partners, and the public. I’d encourage everyone to help shape the details of the scheme by taking part in this consultation.

"EEH is committed to working with the East West Railway Company as it develops these proposals further, while we will also continue to make the strongest case for the Aylesbury to Milton Keynes core section to be confirmed as soon as possible.”

Please visit the Company's consultation page to learn more about the proposals, where you will find information on each section of the consultation, including a full list of documents and maps.

The closing date for the consultation is 9 June 2021.
