  • Bus Operators' Association formed for England's Economic Heartland

    Bus companies have joined together to form a bus operators' association for the Oxford-Milton Keynes-Cambridge growth corridor and surrounding areas.

    The association covers the same geography as England's Economic Heartland, stretching from Swindon to Cambridgeshire, and from Northamptonshire down to Hertfordshire. It will have representation on the Heartland's Strategic Transport Forum - an emerging Sub-national Transport Body – through the association's chairman.

  • Hertfordshire and Swindon join England's Economic Heartland

    Hertfordshire County Council has joined England's Economic Heartland, which provides leadership on strategic infrastructure in the Oxford-Milton Keynes-Cambridge growth corridor.

    Hertfordshire follows Swindon Borough Council which joined the emerging Sub-national Transport Body in March. There are now 11 local transport authorities that make up England's Economic Heartland, with a total population of over 5.1 million and GVA of £150bn.

    Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, has been elected chairman of England's Economic Heartland's Strategic Transport Forum.
