"EEH will continue to support the ambitions of local, regional and national partners in maximising the benefits of investment and delivering an integrated transport system right across the Oxford-Cambridge Growth Corridor."

The Chancellor has announced a half a billion pound investment package to deliver economic growth in our region, including commitment to deliver Cowley branch line in Oxford and funding to remove barriers to growth in Cambridge.

Chair of England's Economic Heartland, Cllr Adam Zerny said: “The announcements are a huge vote of confidence in the region’s unique potential to drive forward UK economic growth, attract global businesses and be at the cutting edge of science and technology innovation. Cowley Branch Line is an important regional priority. We are therefore delighted to see Government commit to its delivery, supporting the transformational £10bn investment by the Ellison Institute of Technology in its Oxford base. Funding to help maximise Cambridge’s significant contribution to regional and UK economic growth is also very much welcomed.

“The opportunity of this whole region cannot be underestimated. The development of new housing and economic growth opportunities must include, without exception, an exemplary public transport and active travel network and this can only be achieved if government works in partnership with local and combined authorities. EEH will continue to support the ambitions of local, regional and national partners in maximising the benefits of investment and delivering an integrated transport system right across the Oxford-Cambridge Growth Corridor: one which unlocks economic growth while improving everyday lives and realising environmental ambitions.”
